Ok, so I'm a Little Depressed again....

...but it's not like I don't have good reason! I've spent the whole weekend just locked in my room with nothing to do, craving England among other things, being just downright pissed off.

I was going to meet up with some other assistants, but after friday night's shenanigans they were cream crackered (bunch a' lightweights...) so they just slept the whole weekend, which was my plan, except I'm having some serious trouble sleeping. I'm waking up every 2 hours, and at 5 or 6 a.m. I wake up and can't get back to sleep. And that in itself is depressing. So I'm up early with feck all to do. And the day just drags on and I still have nothing to do. The shops are closed on sunday and monday so I have nothing to do. I am alone and I am trapped in my own room. So I'm very very depressed in that sense.

In slightly lighter news, I've discovered it is literally impossible to find a good bacon sandwich in France. I woke up on saturday with a hell of a craving for a bacon sandwich, tried to ignore it but it wouldn't go away, come lunchtime I still had this craving so i forced myself to go to the supermarket, just to prove to the craving that it was not possible to get a bacon sandwich in France, yet my craving persists. Here's a brief dialogue of the conversation I had with my craving;

Kim: Right, here we are, meat section, and oh look, no bacon. Happy?
Craving: No! What's that there?
[Kim picks up something resembling really crap bacon]
Craving: See! That's bacon.
Kim: No, Craving, that's an inch thick, and consists of 90% fat and 10% pork. It's more like a pork chop. It won't work.
Craving: Oh yes it will! Look at it, it even says on it. Jaaam-bonnn, that's french for bacon isn't it? [Craving tosses pork-bacon-fat-mess into basket]
Craving: Right, where's the brown sauce?
Kim: Brown sauce does not exist in France, I've said this before.
Craving: I bet we'll find some. I'm determined we will have our bacon sandwich.
[Kim and Craving continue round supermarket]
Kim: [wearily] Do you want egg on your bacon sandwich too?
Craving: No, just bacon and brown sauce will be fine.
[Standing in the sauce aisle]
Kim: Right. [looks around] I don't see any brown sauce.
Craving: [looking perhaps defeated] No... Hey, they have BBQ sauce, that'll work. Now for some bread.
[Craving drags Kim to bread section]
Kim: This is fresh bread, it won't be like the packaged stuff we normally have. It'll be too crusty.
Craving: [Annoyed] I DON'T CARE!!! Damn your pessimism.

So we bought ourselves some crap bacon, some bbq sauce and some crusty bread. And we attempted to make ourselves a bacon sandwich. What we end up with is a fatty pork sandwich with bbq sauce, on bread that should accompany the meal, not be part of the centrepiece. A lesson well learned - I will not listen to my craving again. And I shall be packing my suitcases full of bacon and brown sauce when I go back! As well as tea, hobnobs, marmite, ribena, chocolate digestives, cadbury's Fruit n Nut....

Bonjour!!

Well well well. The last time I wrote in this thing was May. A lot's happened since then methinks!!
For example, I live in France now, in a nice quiet little town outside Paris called St Germain en Laye. Well I say "live", I'm not moving into my own place till monday. I'm currently crashing at a teacher's place, and will be moving into a flat near my school. I'm going to be sharing with 2 French girls I think, I only met one the other day and she seemed nice. It's costing something like 560 euros, which is slightly more than I wanted but it is nice and very convenient. And all bills are included. And it's furnished, which is rare for flats in France apparently.

So other than that, everything's cool. I start properly at my school on tuesday - so far I've just been observing and getting used to who's who etc. Some of my classes are quite bad but hopefully my charm will win them over and they'll be nice to me instead of eating me alive like I currently think they will... Plus I've already heard some horror stories from some of the other assistants in my region so I can't really say I'm looking forward to it exactly!

What else? Got myself a bank account and a new phone today, if you want my number leave us a comment, though i think most people should have had an email from me earlier. Ermmm.... to be honest nothing much else has happened here.

I'm coming home on the 22nd, yeah!!! So anyone in the Birmingham region, be prepared for a huge Eddie's night! God I've missed real music. There is a radio station here (Called Oui FM - lol!!) and they play similar stuff to Kerrang's daytime stuff - so the only music I've heard recently has been that shit new Oasis song that I hated when I was in England, Kaiser Chiefs, Gorillaz and that new Franz Ferdinand song ("well do ya, do ya do ya wanna..." etc) That can really grate after the fiftieth time. But anyway, having heard some real French music, I'm grateful for anything remotely British. Even if it is the same shite over and over again.

I'm hoping to update this thing every so often, I was just reading some of the earlier stuff on this site (eg. the fat naked woman at the gym) and it's quite funny now looking back. I wonder how long it'll last...
